The Practitioner

A career
moved across disciplines on purpose.

Each practice taught a piece of the discipline. Together they form a single integrated way of working.

Dr. David Terrence Randolph is Chairman & CEO of TR Group International, an executive consulting practice based in Woodland Hills, California. He advises founders, executives, and family-led firms on the structural decisions that shape long-term enterprise value — strategy, capital, organization, and operations — and serves as a California-commissioned mobile notary for the documents that bind those decisions.

Consulting taught him to diagnose before prescribing. Education taught him that counsel is a form of teaching.

His career has moved across disciplines on purpose. Financial advisory taught him that a recommendation that does not reconcile to cash is not a recommendation. Operations and logistics taught him that the best plan in the room loses to the plan that actually moves through the building. Education — and two earned Ph.D.s — taught him that the client’s capacity to lead the next decision matters more than any single deliverable.

He holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration, a Ph.D. in Education, and an Honorary Doctor of Business and Education (Hon. D.B.E.). He is a member of the Knights of Columbus, the National Notary Association, and the American Association of Notaries — see the full institutional affiliations — and is commissioned as a California Notary Public through 2029.

How the Practice Works

Philosophy and mission, in plain language.

Leadership Philosophy

Counsel is a form of teaching.

Good counsel does not produce dependence. It produces a leader who can carry the next decision better than the last — and who needs the advisor less, not more, over time.

In every engagement, the work is judged by two questions. First, is the recommendation right? Second, has the client been brought along far enough to own it, defend it, and execute it after the advisor steps back? If the second answer is no, the engagement is unfinished.

Mission

One advisor, from strategy through signing.

TR Group International was built around a structural advantage that most advisory practices cannot offer: the same advisor who diagnoses the strategy is also the officer who notarizes the documents at closing. Continuity, not handoffs.

The practice serves a deliberately small roster — founders, family offices, mid-market operators, and the law firms and counsel supporting them — under long-running engagements where discretion, judgment, and finished work are the only deliverables that count.

Credentials

Two earned Ph.D.s,
one honorary degree.

Each credential is operative in the practice — not decorative. Business shapes the strategy work; education shapes the advisory model; recognition across both is what the engagement letter is signed against.

  • Ph.D., Business Administration

Doctoral research in strategy, capital, and the structure of decision-making in private firms. Anchors the consulting practice in actual mechanisms — not frameworks.

  • Ph.D., Education

Doctoral work in pedagogy, leadership formation, and adult learning. Frames every engagement around the client's capacity to lead the next decision after the advisor steps back.

  • Hon. D.B.E.

Honorary Doctor of Business and Education, recognising contribution across both fields. The bridge between operating discipline and pedagogy is not incidental — it is the practice.

Career Arc

Four practices, one practitioner.

The disciplines are not separate offerings bolted together — they are a single integrated practice built over a career, executed under direct principal involvement.
