The Lord's Prayer (Our Father)

The prayer the Lord himself gave us — prayed at every Mass and in homes the world over, the pattern for all Christian prayer.

PrayersTraditional Catholic Prayer

When the disciples asked the Lord how to pray, he gave them these words (Matthew 6:9–13). It is the prayer the whole Church holds in common.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
