A Prayer of Faith, Surrender, and Service

A personal prayer of thanksgiving, surrender, and intercession — for family and marriage, for the work of one’s hands, for the sick and the whole Church — offered in the spirit of “Not my will, but Yours be done.”

A pair of hands clasped in prayer, holding a Saint Benedict crucifix and rosary.
PrayersDr. David T. Randolph

In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Heavenly Father,

I come before You today with a humble and grateful heart. You are the Creator of heaven and earth, the Author of life, and the source of every blessing. Before the foundation of the world, You knew me, loved me, and called me according to Your holy purpose. I praise You for Your endless mercy, Your unfailing love, and Your constant presence in every season of my life.

Lord Jesus Christ, my Savior and Redeemer, thank You for the gift of Your Cross and Resurrection. Thank You for the forgiveness of my sins and for the hope of eternal life. Draw me ever closer to You, that I may faithfully follow Your example of humility, compassion, obedience, and sacrificial love. Help me to deny myself, take up my cross each day, and walk faithfully in Your footsteps.

Holy Spirit, fill my heart with Your wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and holy fear of the Lord. Guide my thoughts, my words, and my actions so that everything I do may bring glory to God and bear witness to the Gospel. Grant me discernment whenever I face important decisions, courage when I encounter difficulties, and peace that surpasses all understanding.

Father, I thank You for every blessing You have poured into my life—for my family, my friends, my education, my opportunities to serve others, and every lesson You have taught me through both joy and hardship. Even when I have not understood Your plan, You have remained faithful. Teach me always to trust in Your perfect timing and to believe that You are working all things together for good according to Your holy will.

Lord, strengthen my faith so that I may never lose hope. When I grow weary, renew my strength. When I become discouraged, remind me of Your promises. When I am uncertain, be my light. When I am tempted, give me the grace to choose what is right. Keep me close to You through prayer, Sacred Scripture, and the sacraments, and help me to remain faithful to the vocation You have entrusted to me.

Bless my marriage and my family. Fill our home with love, peace, patience, forgiveness, kindness, generosity, and mutual respect. Teach us to encourage one another, to pray together, and to seek Your will in all that we do. May our home always be a place where Your presence is welcomed and where Your love is reflected in our words and actions.

Lord, bless the work of my hands. Help me to conduct my professional life with honesty, integrity, humility, and excellence. Open the right doors according to Your will, bring the right people into my path, and grant me opportunities to use my gifts in service to others. May every success I experience be used to glorify You and to benefit those in need. Protect me from pride, discouragement, and selfish ambition, and help me always to remember that every good gift comes from You.

Father, deepen within me a heart of compassion for all people, especially those who are poor, lonely, forgotten, suffering, or without hope. Give me the grace to see Christ in every person I meet. Help me to be an instrument of Your peace, bringing encouragement where there is despair, forgiveness where there is hurt, truth where there is confusion, and hope where there is fear.

I also pray for all who are sick, especially those battling serious illnesses. May they experience Your healing presence, Your comfort, and Your strength. Grant wisdom to physicians, nurses, and caregivers, and surround every patient with Your peace and loving care. According to Your holy will, restore health where healing is needed and sustain every heart with hope.

Bless Your Holy Church throughout the world. Protect our Holy Father, the bishops, priests, deacons, consecrated religious, and all the faithful. Strengthen them in their ministry and unite us ever more deeply in faith, charity, and truth. Help me to remain faithful to the teachings of the Church and to grow daily in holiness through prayer, worship, and service.

I entrust myself to the loving intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, our Mother. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for me that I may always say “yes” to God’s will with the same faith, humility, and trust that you showed throughout your life. Wrap me in your maternal mantle and lead me always to your Son, Jesus Christ.

Saint Joseph, faithful guardian of the Holy Family, pray for me. Teach me faithful service, quiet strength, steadfast obedience, and unwavering trust in God.

May my guardian angel watch over me, protect me from all evil, guide my steps, and help me remain faithful to Christ throughout my life.

Lord, as I continue my journey, make me a person of integrity, compassion, wisdom, and charity. Help me to love You above all things and to love my neighbor as myself. May my words bring encouragement, my actions reflect Your goodness, and my life bear witness to the Gospel.

When my earthly pilgrimage is complete, receive me into Your heavenly kingdom, where I may join the communion of saints in praising and worshiping You forever.

I place my life, my future, my hopes, my work, my family, and every intention of my heart into Your loving hands. Not my will, but Yours be done.

I ask all these things through Jesus Christ, Our Lord.

Amen.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
